Registered 911 Address
When using Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services, such as PrimeVOX, the service address you provided during account set up is assigned as your emergency services address ("Registered Address"), unless otherwise specified.
In the event you dial 911, this address is sent to the 911 dispatcher you speak with. Since only a single address can be attached to a phone number, you must notify emergency services if the address you are calling from is different than your Registered Address.
Verifying your Registered 911 Address
To check that emergency services are enabled and confirm your Registered Address, you may dial *933 from any PrimeVOX device.
If you Registered Address does not match your current service address or if you plan on permanently relocating your device(s) to a different service address, please notify PrimeVOX of this change as soon as possible, so we can update your Registered Address.
Limitations of Emergency Services over VoIP
Emergency Calling Services/911 may be unavailable under certain circumstances. This includes, but is not limited to:
- An electrical power outage
- A broadband service outage
- The relocation of your device from the Registered Address
PrimeVOX customers must notify their end users about the 9-1-1 limitations of emergency services over VoIP. Warning labels regarding the limitations or unavailability of 9-1-1 services should be on, or near each VoIP device.
Pre-made warning labels, which can be printed to stickers, as well as PrimeVOX's 911 Disclaimer, which includes a full list of limitations, are attached to the bottom of this article.
