DNS Settings for Branded Emails in Legacy (Green) Portal

DNS Settings for Branded Emails in Legacy (Green) Portal

Overview

In order to authorize the Primevox Mail Server to send emails on your behalf, you must have an SPF Record that allows our mail server's IP address. Also, a DKIM Record is required for our servers to encrypt emails to your customers. We DO NOT send plaintext emails, so the DKIM record is required.

SPF Record (Required)

  • If you already have an SPF Record (this is likely)

    • Add include:mailgun.org to the existing text in the middle of the record.

  • If you do not have an SPF Record (unlikely)
    • Create a new TXT Record with the following:
      • Type: TXT
      • Name: (domain.com, or whatever domain you've selected for emails)
      • Value: v=spf1 mx a include:mailgun.org ~all

AlertImportant Note: Your domain must only have 1 (ONE) SPF Record. Do NOT add a new SPF record if you already have one - Simply modify it with the first bullet point above. If your domain has multiple SPF records, you must consolidate them. Otherwise, you risk having your emails go to your customers' spam folders!

DKIM Record (Required)

  • Create a new TXT Record with the following:
    • Type: TXT
    • Name: (the DKIM Name provided by a PrimeVOX Technician)
    • Value: (the DKIM Value provided by a PrimeVOX Technician)

CNAME Record (Optional)

  • This record allows emails to be open/view/click tracked. If you want to know whether or not your customer opened a particular eFax email, or they viewed a Voicemail notification, or they opened your billing/collections email (on the new platform), add this CNAME record. (Our new V2 platform will be able to show you tracking statistics on all emails sent, so I suggest putting this record in).
  • Create a new CNAME Record with the following:
    • Type: CNAME
    • Name: email.(domain.com, or whatever domain you've selected for emails)
    • Value: mailgun.org
AlertNote: The name is "email.domain.com" where "domain.com" is your email sending domain. The "email." prefix must be there.
