Page Groups

Page Groups

What is a Page Group?

Page Groups allow you to broadcast one-way or two-way audio messages to multiple devices simultaneously. They are commonly used for in-office announcements, department-wide paging, or emergency alerts.

Example: A receptionist could use a page group to announce a visitor’s arrival to all staff in the front office area.

Creating a New Page Group

1. From the main menu on the left, navigate to: "UC Admin" "Call Control Apps" "Page Groups"

2. Select the “+ Add Page Group” button in the upper-right corner.

3. Complete the form with the following required information:
  1. Assigned Account: Select the account this page group belongs to. This field only appears if you have not already selected an account from the main dropdown at the top right of the page
  2. Label: Enter a name used for internal identification (e.g., “Front Office”, “All Staff”).
  3. Extension Number: Assign a 3-7 digit extension number that the system will use to identify this page group for call routing purposes.

4. Select “Add” in the lower-right to create the group.

5. Once the page group is created, you’ll be redirected to a page where you can further customize it (refer to Step 3 in the Management section below).

Alert
Note: An extension number is not required to save the page group, but it must be added before the group can be used in a live call flow.

Managing Existing Page Groups

1. From the main menu on the left, navigate to: "UC Admin"  "Call Control Apps" → "Page Groups"

2. From the list of existing page groups, select the name of the group you wish to edit to open it's settings.

3. You'll have access to several configuration tabs:
  1. General
    1. Label, Description, Notes: Organizational metadata for identifying the group
    2. Extension Number & Dialing Address: How the page group is reached internally
    3. Members: Extensions that will receive the page
  2. Advanced
    1. Caller ID Prefix: Adds a prefix (e.g., “PAGE:”) to help recipients identify the call
    2. Skip Busy Extensions: Prevents paging to users currently on a call
    3. Duplex Audio: Allows two-way communication (like an intercom), rather than broadcast-only
    4. Pre-Paging Tone: Plays an alert tone before audio begins
    5. Record Calls: Automatically records the audio for review
    6. Webhooks: Notify external systems when a page is initiated
    7. Authorization PIN: Restrict who can activate the group by requiring a PIN
  3. Dependency Tree
    1. Visualizes where the page group is referenced in the broader call flow, aiding with system design and troubleshooting.

AlertBe sure to click “Update” at the bottom of the screen to save your changes before navigating away.
