Issues? Reboot or Reset Your Phone!

Why Do I Need To Reboot My Phone?

In most cases, turning a phone off and back on again (rebooting) is all it takes to fix common issues. However, there are occasional instances where a factory reset is required instead.

Cases when a phone reboot might be required:
  1. Network Changes
  2. After a power outage, once the power and internet have been restored
  3. The phone is acting out of the ordinary
  4. The configuration is not updating

If a reboot still doesn’t resolve the problem, a Factory Reset may be the next step.

How Do I Reboot My Phone?

Sometimes, just pulling the power cord is sufficient to reboot your phone.  However, to make sure that your phone does a full reboot, we recommend:

1. Place your finger over one of the Ethernet cords on the back of the phone case (to remember your place). With your other hand, remove the cable, wait 5 seconds, then replug the cable.

2. Do this again for any other Ethernet cables. (Do not unplug more than 1 cable at a time!)

3. Remove the power cable (if there is one), wait 5 seconds, then replug that cable.

4. You will know that your phone has rebooted if the screen goes black and it goes through a full boot-up process.

Factory Resetting Your Phone

If rebooting the phone does not resolve the issue, a factory reset may be required. The steps for performing a factory reset vary by model.

For model-specific instructions, navigate to:

User Guides and Troubleshooting → Your Office Phones

Select the brand of the phone you are working with and follow the corresponding factory reset guide.

InfoNote: Primevox-supported phones automatically re-provision following a factory reset, provided they have access to the Internet. However, we recommend that you reach out to Primevox Support at support@primevox.net before factory resetting a device to confirm that your phone is set up to automatically re-provision following the factory reset.
