What Are Extension Snapshot and Extension Monitor?


These tools provide insight into the real-time and historical status of phone extensions connected to your Qvara-hosted phone system. They are essential for diagnosing connectivity issues, monitoring extension health, and gaining visibility into user activity, especially in distributed or remote environments.



Extension Snapshot


Purpose:
View a detailed, static overview of all extensions registered to an account, including network data, status, and recent activity. This tool is typically used for diagnostics and troubleshooting.

To Access:
1. From the left pop-out menu: "Reports" "Diagnostics" "Extension Snapshot"



2. Select the account from the list or dropdown in the upper right.



3. You will see a table displaying each extension along with the following details:
  1. Extension #: Internal extension number
  2. Display Name: Friendly name assigned to the extension
  3. Public IP: The external IP address the extension is connecting from
  4. Private IP: The device’s internal/local IP address
  5. Transport: SIP transport protocol used (UDP, TCP, or TLS)
  6. User Agent: Device or softphone model (e.g., Yealink T54W, Bria, etc.)
  7. Status: Indicates whether the extension is registered/online
  8. Latency: The current measured latency (in milliseconds)
  9. Last Seen: The last time the extension was registered/active



Idea
Tip: Use this tool to quickly identify problematic devices—e.g., high latency, incorrect IPs, or offline status.



Extension Monitor


Purpose:
Monitor the real-time status of all extensions within an account. Ideal for live diagnostics, monitoring uptime, and tracking active calls across the organization.

To Access:
1. From the left pop-out menu: "Reports" "Diagnostics" "Extension Monitor"



2. Choose the account from the list or dropdown in the upper right.



3. You’ll be taken to a live dashboard showing dynamic extension activity. Dashboard Details Include:
  1. Local Time: Displays the account’s local time for context
  2. Extension Status Overview: Counts of online vs. offline extensions
  3. Meta Activity: Active call count or call state summaries
  4. Extension List: View each extension’s real-time status, which may include:
    1. Extension number and name
    2. Registration status (online/offline)
    3. In-call status or idle
    4. Device info or user agent



Notes
Use Case Example: If a user reports they can’t make or receive calls, check Extension Monitor to confirm if their device is online or engaged in a call.
